Making A Difference to Others’ Lives
They say doctors are the incarnations of god. They not only save lives, but also give life a new meaning with their selfless service. Dr. Mahesh Sharma, a physician by profession, chose this field to be able to serve others. Though his initial days were full of struggles, his never-say-die attitude kept him going.
It was in 1983 when this humble and erudite man started his career as a General Physician, choosing the then growing locality, Noida as his “Karam Bhoomi”. He started his practice from a small 10×10 clinic in Sector 19, Noida. Gradually, his hard-working approach, gracious persona and affability made him win many hearts during his medical practice. He soon became an endearing doctor, easily approachable by all the sections of the society – a rare find these days. With kind-heartedness and empathy deep rooted within him, Dr Sharma listened to the health complaints of his patients with great sympathy and patience, so much so that at times he didn’t even care for his consultation fee. As they say, ‘Virtue is the truest nobility’, and Dr Sharma has always proved that right.
With changing times, he realised the absence of adequate medical facilities in Noida. Noida was an upcoming township at that time and didn’t had adequate healthcare facilities. He then decided to open a hospital in Noida which could serve the residents with health care services of international standards at reasonable costs. He extended the benefits of high quality medical services at affordable prices to other areas as well by opening Kailash Hospitals in many such areas that are remotely located and where medical facilities and health infrastructure were in dire straits.
After spending more than 25 years in the medical profession and serving the humanity, his dedication towards the society called for a bigger platform so that he can help people on a larger scale, and thus, he made his electoral debut.
In March, 2012, he got elected as M.L.A. from Noida Legislative Assembly Constituency, Uttar Pradesh. It was a massive win with a huge margin of over 27,000 votes. Two years later, in May, 2014, he got elected as M.P. from Gautam Buddha Nagar Parliamentary constituency, Uttar Pradesh. Again, the victory was momentous where Dr Sharma earned 50 per cent of the votes in the district. Making a ground-breaking achievement, it was the first time that any candidate in Gautam Buddha Nagar Lok Sabha constituency won in all five Vidhan Sabha Constituencies falling under it.
